smoky eyes

While I was at the Beachbody Coaches Summit this last weekend, I was with some of the best people!  Everyone has something different to bring to the table and it is wonderful to make such great, lifelong friends.  I love that when we get together, nothing is off limits, we talk about anything and everything.  Of course, when you have 2 rooms of girls, the subject of make-up always comes up.  I don't wear a lot of make-up, but I do use it daily.  Valerie, a fellow coach and good friend, (http://www.thetotaleffect.wordpress.com/) is a great make-up artist.  She had the best post for creating a smoky eye.  She is kind enough to let me share it with you all here.  She did my make-up for the Diamond dinner and I must say, I was smokin'!!!!!

THE LOOK Embrace the colors of the season: instead of a dark smoky eye, try one in a shade of purple, blue or green. Dior Beauty Director Jacquey George, featured this month in Allure Magazine, says to start by rimming the upper and lower lash line with a black pencil. Then layer the shadow on your eyelid and a little under the lower lash line. “Wear the color close to your lash line and smudge it well—that way it looks more modern and chic,” she says. “It’s best to avoid colors like blue and green too close to your brow bone—it can easily look clownish. I also like to layer a colored eye pencil on top of a black pencil—it will give your makeup a more rock and roll edge.”

INSIDER TIP ”As far as skin tones go, choose lighter tones like aqua, sea grass and turquoise for light and medium skin. For darker skin tones, go with bolder colors like sky blue, emerald, violet and teal,” says Jacquey, who recommends Dior’s Blue Croisette palette.

Valerie used the Dior eye shadows and other great  Dior products.
